DJ Peachez Out of Virginia Has Died

Above is a screen cap of her last tweet. I don't think anyone saw this coming.

Popular Richmond, VA radio DJ, DJ Peachez, has died, according to several recent blog posts and close collaborator Nicki Minaj, who posted the news to her Twitter page.

AJ-Supreme.com has also posted of this news, sharing that DJ Peachez had collaborated with the likes of Gucci Mane, and Bobby Valentino. Another source close to her reports that Peachez had been in the hospital with meningitis days before her death.

The radio station she worked for, iPower 92.1, has written a short post confirming her death.

“It is with a heavy, heavy heart that we tell you that our own DJ Peachez passed away today after a very short illness. She has been with iPower 921 since 2006 and will always be remembered as an inspiration to young women who aspire to be on air DJ’s and Mixers. Terika Grooms aka DJ Peachez was a graduate of James Madison University and she truly loved being a DJ.”

DJ Peachez grew up in Amherst, VA and became well-known for her on-air mix show, which included 80s, dancehall, reggae, and hip-hop. The first female DJ to hold such a position on a mainstream VA radio station.

Corinne Bailey Rae is Back Yall!

Live performance of "I'd Like To Call It Beauty" at Tabernacle, November 24, 2009

It felt right that this barely advertised, but sold-out date was held in a former church. Much of Corinne Bailey Rae's forthcoming second album, The Sea, written since her husband's death by accidental overdose last year, has a hymnal quality that was heightened by the Tabernacle's tranquil atmosphere.

Rae has been out of action for most of the past 18 months, and looked nervous at this full-length return to live performance. Physically small – just a cloud of ringlets could be seen from the back of the room – and emotionally delicate, she inspired fierce protectiveness in the audience, who greeted old songs and new with loud approval. She thanked us more than once for "being so supportive".

It's trite to suggest that Rae has become a more soulful vocalist since her loss, but there's a depth of feeling that didn't exist on her 3m-selling debut. The breeziness of that album was occasionally present here in a life-goes-on way, lighting up new tunes such as Paris Nights and New York Mornings, but it was her otherwise sombre, pained delivery that made this show moving.

Her band made much use of small, distinctive sounds including sleigh bells and a metronome tick, accentuating the yearning lyrics of I'd Do It All Again and Love's On Its Way. While singing The Sea's title track, she seemed dreamy and tender – and miles from west London. The No 2 hit from 2005, Put Your Records On, ended the show sunnily, with even the band applauding as she left the stage, but the spell of the aching new songs lingered.

Rihanna Says Size Matters

Guys, if you ain't packing, Rihanna wants you to keep on walkin'!

Rihanna is on the hunt for a well-endowed man.

The Umbrella singer - who has been single since Chris Brown assaulted her in February - is ready to date again but isn't interested in suitors who don't measure up in the bedroom.

When asked what a guy needed to impress her, she quipped to German magazine Bravo: "He has to be good in bed and the size matters. You know what I mean? The inner beauty counts as well, but without a toy it doesn't make it fun. Right now I don't want to have a serious relationship, I want to have fun."

Although she is on the look-out for a guy, Rihanna is careful about who she gives her number to.

She said: "I love flirting at the moment. I'm single and I'm enjoying my freedom. But I don't give my phone number out that often. But if I'm dating, I check the boy from the top to the bottom."

One guy Rihanna has her eye is Grey's Anatomy actor Jesse Williams - who plays her love interest in the video for Russian Roulette.

The 21-year-old star revealed: "Jesse, who's in my music video for Russian Roulette, is soooo hot!"

Rihanna, Chris Brown Interviews to Air on Same Day - The Boombox

Rihanna, Chris Brown Interviews to Air on Same Day - The Boombox

Fans will get to hear both sides of the Chris Brown and Rihanna saga this Friday as interviews from both stars will air on the same day. As previously reported, Rihanna will break her silence on ABC's 'Good Morning America' with an extended version of the interview airing later that night on '20/20.' Not to be outdone, Brown sits down with MTV for his interview, which will air Friday evening.

This is the third time that Brown has publicly addressed the incident. He sat down with Larry King in September, New York radio DJ Angie Martinez in October and MTV this week. Brown will open up about why he posted fan-made video montages of the two on his Twitter page; why his new music sounds like a dedication to Rihanna, plus details of the altercation. "My thoughts [when I look back on it now] is like, 'Why did it happen?" he said in the interview. "Like, 'What was I thinking? What is wrong with you?' That's what I'm thinking with myself. That's what my thoughts are, basically, now."

"It's like, 'How do we get past it? How do you, Chris' -- talking to myself -- 'how do you go from point A to point B? How do you learn from your mistakes, turn it into a positive and help other people with the situation, and at the end of the day become the person that you want to be?"

Rihanna, who has taken a much quieter approach to the ordeal, also stated that she hopes telling her story will help others. "The positive thing that has come out of my situation is that people can learn from that," she said in the November issue of Glamour Magazine. "I want to give as much insight as I can to young women, because I feel like I represent a voice that really isn't heard. Now I can help speak for those women."

Brown pleaded guilty to assaulting Rihanna following a pre-Grammy party back in February. He received five years probation, 180-days of community labor, must complete a domestic violence course, and is not to have contact with Rihanna. His latest interview comes just in time as his 'Graffiti' album release date has been pushed up from Dec. 15 to Dec. 8. 'Chris Brown: The Interview' airs Friday, Nov. 6 at 6PM on MTV.
