Popular Richmond, VA radio DJ, DJ Peachez, has died, according to several recent blog posts and close collaborator Nicki Minaj, who posted the news to her Twitter page.
AJ-Supreme.com has also posted of this news, sharing that DJ Peachez had collaborated with the likes of Gucci Mane, and Bobby Valentino. Another source close to her reports that Peachez had been in the hospital with meningitis days before her death.
The radio station she worked for, iPower 92.1, has written a short post confirming her death.
“It is with a heavy, heavy heart that we tell you that our own DJ Peachez passed away today after a very short illness. She has been with iPower 921 since 2006 and will always be remembered as an inspiration to young women who aspire to be on air DJ’s and Mixers. Terika Grooms aka DJ Peachez was a graduate of James Madison University and she truly loved being a DJ.”
DJ Peachez grew up in Amherst, VA and became well-known for her on-air mix show, which included 80s, dancehall, reggae, and hip-hop. The first female DJ to hold such a position on a mainstream VA radio station.
