Trey Songz - Can't Help But Wait Video+Album Review of Alicia Keys "As I Am"

I was sleeping on Trey Songz' new album. What is wrong with me? His song "Can't Help But Wait" is lovely, romantic and soothing. I love it. This is my song of the moment.

Check out the video here. OK, Trey is sexy as hell! He just needs to gain a good 20/30 lbs and he'll be hittin'! Not literally...but maybe? Hmmm. Can I get some of that? :) Oh and some of you ladies need to take heed to this video and the message in it. See yourself for what you are worth, A LOT!!

While we're on the subject of music, I promised I was going to do a quick album review of Alicia Keys' new CD "As I Am". Well I am loving it! Loving it. Another work of art. If you listen to this CD and find nothing but negative things to say, you need to retire your musical ears because you have none.

In Alicia-esque manner, the album starts off with a piano intro that builds up to "Go Ahead", the second track of the album. The harmonies on that song, the rhythm and melodies all carried me through the lyrics that speak of stolen hearts and broken promises. The next song, "Superwoman" is empowering. All powerful and reminiscent of a woman's anthem of times past for the year 2007/2008. "Cause I am Superwoman, yes I am, yes she is. Even when I'm a mess, still I put on a vest with an S on my chest, oh yes I am Superwoman." Wow, those lyrics give me chills. Then it's her song "No One" which just about everyone has heard at one point in time by now. Love it! Then it's on to "Like You'll Never See Me Again." OK, this song is just beautiful, beautiful. The lyrics are eye-opening. Time is so short. We don't know if we'll see someone the next day. The songstress recommends to the lovers out there, "Every time you hold me, hold me like this is the last time, every time you kiss me, kiss me like you'll never see me again. Every time you touch me, touch me like this is the last time. Promise that you'll love me, love me like you'll never see me again." There's not much I can say. The words speak for themselves.

Then it's on to "Lessons Learned" with John Mayer. The guitar riffs of John Mayer alone make me love this song. Just amazing. But it helps tremendously that the lyrics and melody of this song all fit in beautifully together which make it a strong contender for a third single. Another standout track for me is "I Need You." I love the harmonies on this song. The other songs on the album are Wreckless Love, love it, "The Thing About Love" - very soothing love song. Then it's Teenage Love Affair which is reminiscent of "You Don't Know My Name" but speaks of teenage love. This song took me back to high school and being in love. Those were wonderful days. Thank you Alicia for this song. "Where Do We Go From Here" puts me in the mind of an old 60s or 70s song. I like it. Then "Prelude to a Kiss" is Ms. Alicia singing alone with her piano, like "Caged Bird" from her debut album. "Tell You Something" is another favorite of mine. "Sure Looks Good To Me" is the last song on the album. The beginning of the song makes me think of Mariah Carey and Pink - Mariah for the harmonies and Pink for the "Yeah yeah yeah" part. This is her single song on the album which kinda leans on the rock side, more soft rock. I like it as well. It leaves me wanting more though. The album has 14 songs but yet I want more.

To summarize, the album is great! I'm glad I bought it. I also bought Celine Dion's Taking Chances. I have yet to listen but will report back on that at a later time.
